it was in 1976 that steve jobs and his friend steve wozniak started apple in a garage here in silicon valley. 35 years later he has led the tech world into the "i" age, iphone, i pad. he is a survivor of pancreatic cancer. he took a liver transplant and took open-ended leave in january his third medical leave in a few years. jobs came back from that looking very thin. he was last seen in public back in june. and yesterday, he made that big announcement that he could no longer handle the job as ceo. apple employees we spoke with say they are very sad to see him go. >> he is a good guy, good boss. >> wish him the best of everything in life. >> reporter: jobs recommended coo tim cook to replace him. it wasn't a surprise though. cook has been running the company for some time. jobs was elected chairman of the board and he will stay involved in the company. but, of course, the big question on everyone's mind is how is apple going to do without jobs? other analysts say it's not going to be really a practical change that really this is a sentimental blow for people because jobs was so loved
